About Spannocchia

Friends of Spannocchia, a U.S.-based nonprofit organization, was created to support the important educational activities at the Spannocchia property in Tuscany. Young adults live and work on the farm as part of our farm internship program and apprenticeships in butchery and culinary arts. Scholars, artists, musicians, and environmentalists stay on the property to engage in their work while learning about the historic estate, Tuscan culture, and our commitment to sustainability and regenerative agriculture.

Our members and supporters help to make the educational programming and farm internships possible, while promoting sustainable living to visitors from around the globe. All profits from the sale of our online products are used to support our work and further our mission.

Located in a nature reserve in the hills of Tuscany, Spannocchia's 1100-acre organic farm hosts guests from around the world. Visitors experience the stunning natural setting and learn about our work, and we encourage everyone to embrace the full Spannocchia experience by participating in on-site educational tours, tastings, cooking classes, and more.

At Spannocchia, we are committed to preserving the original property as well as promoting sustainable living. The farm produces certified organic olive oil and wine, and the vegetable garden provides produce for authentic seasonal cuisine for residents and guests. Going beyond the requirements for organic production, the operation focuses on soil health and biodiversity through usage of permaculture techniques, regenerative practices, different composting systems, and more.
